The artwork I created above was a practice in letting go. I wanted to create something specific, and at first was frustrated because I couldn’t figure out how to get things in line or “perfect.” It was when I allowed myself to appreciate what was being created, I was able to witness the imperfect beauty of color and shapes. Beauty isn’t always symmetrical: I personally enjoy the very messy human-ness of things that don’t align just right. It feels more accurate to our existence. The lines that don’t meet, the colors that go beyond the lines, and the blend of light and shadows that form different stories. I was able to see and be present for the inner harmony that exists within the process of creating & the magic of the art itself, only when I softened the need to control the outcome.
I’ve been thinking a lot about acceptance this month, and how my own idea of how I think life should be gets in the way of noticing the beauty that is already present.
When we allow ourselves to zoom out from our own agenda, we practice letting go. There is a softening of our resistance to how we think things should be and how we think things should look, and we can be curious about the inner harmony that exists in all things (even if it’s beyond what we can see with our own eyes.)
If you’re moving through something in your life right now where you are trying to fix or change something that is uncomfortable or something you consider “bad”~ can you take a moment to step back, zoom out and notice that whatever phase you’re in, is a necessary part of the process? And when you accept it, can you notice the freedom that happens in your body, mind and heart when you practice acceptance?
Acceptance is a practice.
It’s a shift from control to trust.
From resistance to letting go.
Choosing to shift your perspective to honor the sacred timing of your life.

I hope your weekend is filled with joy and connection.
